July 10th Fishing Report
Currently, two primary fishing techniques dominate on Lake Winnie: trolling spinners and bobber fishing. However, these aren't the only effective methods. Walleyes are spread throughout the system, although the lake is beginning to recover from recent bug hatches. Water temperatures range between 70-73 degrees, and algae blooms are noticeable.
As the lake warms up and algae blooms persist, shallower traditional fishing spots should become increasingly productive. Walleyes have been observed in depths of 3-4 feet around Stony Point, particularly near weed and rock structures. Some anglers, including Captain Jeff, have successfully targeted these shallow water walleyes through sight fishing. If these fish seem to difficult to target during the day, then evening is your best chance.
Significant numbers of walleyes are also being found on the main lake, particularly around the fingers extending off the east shore from Ace in the Hole to the Rock Fence, and along the edges of Center Bar. As water temperatures rise and algae blooms intensify, expect shoreline fishing opportunities to significantly improve, especially in areas with substantial rock and weed structures.
