July 19th Fishing Report

Water temperatures on Lake Winnie are currently in the mid-70s. Fishing conditions have been steadily improving following a brief downturn due to a mayfly hatch. Large bars on the lake are now holding significant schools of fish. The larger schools appear to be concentrated in depths of 13-15 feet along Winnie’s major bar systems, often nearer to deeper breaks. These fish can be somewhat inactive at times as they move in and out of deeper waters. Active biters are more frequently found on top of expansive bars and in smaller schools. Trolling techniques are proving effective for targeting these fish. Photo credit: Captain Jeff Johnson, Northern Drift Outfitters.
